Kuja 2

Paul F. has been on a mission to find a sailboat to replace his 1969 Pearson 35 Falcon.  He was considering a Beneteau 40, I think, and we had talked about exchanging slips - #42 and #45 - so he could accommodate the boat.  See my post Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

The big news is that he has purchased a 2007 Beneteau First 10R!!  The boat was trucked here from (fresh water) Lake Champlain in upstate New York and arrived today at West Basin Marina safe and sound.  The name on the hull is Kuja 2, with the image of a big dog.  (Reminds me of Dave's Black Dog!)

The boat appears to be in excellent condition, well equipped, and with a recent positive survey.  Interestingly, it was delayed at some Beneteau dealer's location from commissioning until 2012.  If you are curious, here is a copy of the listing document from Tim Finkle at RCR Yachts in New York.  Even the folding 8-pod cradle is a thing of beauty!  I've never seen one so nice.

Paul tells me he is as excited as a boy with his first BB gun!  (I remember that feeling!)  It is exciting to me and Karen, too, to have a sister ship to Volant here in the harbor!  Let's do all we can to help Paul get his new boat sorted and sailing fast!

Update on May 10:
Paul will be at his boat on Sunday.  Come to the marina if you want a quick tour!

Update on May 31:
"Kuja 2" has been re-christened "Sandpiper"!
